Douglas Cove played his first game of lacrosse in 1931, and by 1932 Cove was part of the Athletics team and had won the Ontario Jr. Champions, and they were able to win three consecutive Ontario junior titles for 1934, 1935, and 1936.  In 1938 Cove was picked up by the Mimico Team, and helped them to win the Minto Cup.  During 1939-1941 Douglas played lacrosse with the Hamilton Tigers, and was teamed with the great Bill Isaacs and future NHL Referee Red Storey. In 1944-1946 Cove played on the St. Catharines Athletics winning 3 Ontario Championships and 2 Canadian Mann Cup Championships.  In addition to being a player, he was also a referee and a coach of Lacrosse.  The highlights of his coaching career included coaching the St. Catharines Juniors to the Minto Cup Championship Finals, and then in 1950 he coached the St. Catharines Juniors to the Minto Cup Championship.  Douglas also played in the Buffalo-Muny League, as well as refereeing Junior and Senior Lacrosse and Junior “A” Hockey.
