Ed was the owner of a large construction company, Mr. Moir was the architect of the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club as we know it today. His company also built other local landmarks such as The Hotel Dieu Hospital, The Esquire Hotel, three churches and many bridges and highway overpasses. When the 406 Highway took up some of the Golf Club property, he redesigned the golf course and added the curling rink to the new modern Clubhouse, which he also built. He was an Alderman for the City of St. Catharines and chairman of the St. Catharines Parks and Recreation Commission. Ed serves as President of the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club and is also a past president of the Kiwanis Club, The Ontario Golf Association and The Royal Canadian Golf Association. He has been a huge factor in the major golf tournaments within this city.
