BIOGRAPHY

George Howard was the Co-Founder of the C.Y.O. Hockey League in 1935, playing with 5 teams on Martindale Pond & 15 and 16 Mile Creeks.  When the Garden City Arena opened in 1938 there were a great number of teams that then played in the C.Y. O. league, upwards of 40.  Coaching and managing teams as required, George was very active in the hockey league that he helped to create.  George was also a St. John’s Ambulance Member, in charge of trainers and first aid for a total of 51 years.  George’s 3 daughters, son-in-law, 2 grandsons, and 1 great-grandson are all still active in the league.
