George Manoogian joined the St. Catharines Rowing Club in 1941, when there were only 9 members. Retiring from active rowing in 1945, George was still active in contributing to the sport for many years. From 1946-1947 George coached the first Women’s Rowing Crews. He was the Clerk of Henley Course for a number of years, in addition to being the director of the St. Catharines Rowing Club for 25 years. In 1962 George became the Captain of the St. Catharines Rowing Club, and was the Boatman for the St. Catharines and Canadian Olympic Teams in Montreal, Seoul, and Los Angeles. George Manoogian continually contributed to the sport of rowing over a number of years.
