Jack Rountree was one of the area’s premier baseball players in Merritton although he also played in St. Catharines and during the Great Depression played several years in Copper Cliff and Creighton Mines in Northern Ontario communities while working in the mines. He is an ardent curler and one of the early members of the St. Catharines Curling Club. Despite advancing years, Rountree seldom misses a St. Catharines Stompers Class A baseball game.
