BIOGRAPHY

Jim Minards was actively involved in the St. Catharines Rowing Club for a number of years.  He started as an Oarsman at the St. Catharines Rowing Club in 1948, although he received “No Medals to Speak Of”, he then went on to be named to the St. Catharines Rowing Club Executive from 1955-1960.  He became President of the St. Catharines Rowing Club in 1961, and went on to develop the Schoolboy Rowing from an early 1950’s Collegiate crew of 14 poorly equipped Oarsmen, to creating the present Schoolboy and Schoolgirl crews from 14 to 15 Niagara District Schools, who are now well equipped with the equipment necessary.  As past President of the Canadian Amateur Rowing Association, member of the Selection Committee for Canadian National Team, as well as the acting assistant of the Henley Regatta Chairman, Jim has been heavily involved in the sport of rowing.
