BIOGRAPHY

Joe McCaffrey was the Alderman of the City of St. Catharines for four years, and the Mayor of the City of St. Catharines for nine years. A Lacrosse Minor League Goaltender himself, he played forward on the 1947 Minto Cup Athletics team. Coaching Peewee, Bantam, Midget, Juvenile, Junior and Senior B lacrosse for a number of teams, Joe was able to contribute to the sport over a number of years. In addition to coaching lacrosse, Joe also coached hockey for the C.Y.O. for a total of 40 years, as an active member and executive. Refereeing Bantam to Juvenile levels for the Ontario Lacrosse Association, as well as operating the St. Catharines Minor Hockey School for ten years, Joe was not only a great Mayor to St. Catharines, he also contributed a great deal to the sports within it.
