BIOGRAPHY

Neil Edward Stevens was a sports writer at The Canadian Press from 1974 to 2008 covering hockey, figure skating, lacrosse and rowing extensively over the course of his career. Covering a number of Winter Olympic games, Calgary 1988, Albertville 1992, Lillehammer 1994, Nagano 1998, Salt Lake City 2002 and Turin 2006. Neil also covered Summer Olympic games in Atlanta, 1996, and in Sydney, 2000. Attending the Stanley Cup Finals from 1982 to 2008, as well as a number of world hockey championships and world cup tournaments all over the world, Neil was able to cover a large number of events. In terms of figure skating, he was able to cover 22 world figure skating championships and most Canadian and Skate Canada International competitions from 1980-2008. Covering the world rowing championships of 1994 Indianapolis and 1999 St. Catharines. Prior to working for The Canadian Press, Neil also worked for the Sudbury Star 1972-74, Peterborough Examiner 1970-72, Niagara College 1968-69, and Lakeport Secondary School 1961-65.
