Wendy Wiebe at 5’9” and 130 Ibs was considered a lightweight rower. She began rowing in 1980 at Governor Simcoe High School winning Gold Medals in Four and Eights. In 1983 she rowed with Canadian Jr. Fours in Vichy, France and won Bronze Medal. A year later, in 1984 with Canadian Lightweight Fours in Montreal she won Bronze Medal. In 1993 she was proudly named St. Catharines Athlete of the Year. She has during her career competed in Scotland, Denmark, England, Switzerland, Spain and in the Czech Republic. With Colleen Miller of Winnipeg, she has won three consecutive World Championships. In 1996β€”in Atlanta with Colleen she finished fifth at the Olympics where they then won the repechange (Wendy had the flu).
